Present population of the country need more and more resources for improving the quality of the life and also increase the production of food crops. For higher production of food and other crops, there is a need for better utilization for existing resources as the land for agriculture purposes is not going to increase considerably. Our country has diverse agro-climatic zone, which accounts for a wide variety of crops grown in our country.

In addition a large area in our country is laying unutilized due to one or other kind of deficiency in the soil. If this land can be reclaimed for the utilization it would add to our existing resources. Approximately 70,00,000 ha of land is affected with acidity or alkalinity, 24,00,000 ha is partially used for agriculture whereas 10,00,000 is unused. The loss of quality is mainly due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers and lesser application of organic matter.

The use of organic methods a new and eco-friendly means of agriculture can increase productivity of the soil and help in reclamation of user soil as well. Organic farming is the outcome of theory and practice since the early years of the 20th century, involving a variety of attractive methods of agriculture methods of agriculture production.
